While ‘08 brought us another album from one of the crew’s frontrunners, the Ambassador, 2009 kicks off with the solo work of another pillar of group, John Wells aka The Tonic. Wells, a true veteran in the game, presents to the masses, “The Dash,” an album that is complex, intelligent, and just plain dope.

You may be wondering what exactly is “The Dash” all about? Let me spell it out for you: the dash is the hyphen between your birth date and your death date; it’s the decisions you make in between both events that determine your eternal itinerary as Wells puts it. This is the central theme of the album and Wells hammers home the significance of the dash over some stellar production as he utilizes a diverse body of songs and a unique element of dialogue to make sure his listeners recognize the importance of what we do with our life on earth.
